Knowledge Management: The Treacherous Terrain

Bijoy Goswami in his presentation titled "Knowledge Management-Treacherous Terrain" establishes that knowledge when set in a technical system will be a technical repository of information that will sit on some server. He explains that knowledge placed into a natural selection system becomes a sustainable network linking knowledge seekers to Mavens, Connectors and Evangelists in a time sensitive manner. As Mr. Goswami so eloquently states a successful knowledge management system, like Aviri, will build reputations, enhance trust, and naturally encourage reciprocity.

Mr. Goswami in this presentation explains how his belief and that of other researchers is that a natural system of knowledge sharing infused with the precepts of Eastern and Western philosophy will establish a human driven system that responds to the needs and drivers of the knowledge seeking community.

My life has been spent sharing, connecting and sharing knowledge with people and Bijoy does an excellent job creating a vision of what knowledge management can be. He is an information smoother for the twenty-first century for those of us who need to tread the treacherous terrain of knowledge management.

Explorers and pioneers have faced Treacherous Terrain throughout history. KM practitioners - the explorers and pioneers in today's organizations--have learned, during a decade of frustration, that the most challenging aspect of the KM terrain is people. Human factors keep the terrain treacherous because they are contextual, dynamic, situational, and personality dependent. Bijoy's passion and pragmatic view, supported by Aviri's innovative technology, provide the means to attach this most challenging aspect of the KM terrain--people networking, sharing, and leveraging learning.

Bijoy is to knowledge management what Tony Robbins is to personal empowerment! Adopting the approach and using Aviri tools enables KM practitioners, and the organizations they serve, to leverage what and who people know in a just in time context.
